The one where I talk about my bestie

My best friends name is Alexis Jewell. I wasn't planning on talking about her for a whole blog post but she caught me working on the blog post Tuesday and insisted. I will be talking about how we first became friends and the struggles we have been through over the years. It will showcase the type of best friend love we both share.

My mom and Alexis mom were best friends whenever they were younger so growing up, we would always see each other. Now I say see each other and not hangout because we weren't besties right away. Alexis is a year older than me so whenever we would go over there, she would always want to hangout with my sister and not me. I would always be stuck hanging out with her younger sister who didn't really like me either (and still doesn't) or playing by myself. This went on for several years until she moved out of my hometown and to a bigger town 15 minutes away. We didn't talk after this until I was in middle school when I got a text from her asking if I wanted to hangout soon. Nothing would be the same after that.

We played competitive softball together since we didn't go to the same high school and would be at each others houses every weekend. We literally did everything together. It stayed this way all throughout high school until I started college. She's always been really close to my mom as are all my friends (because my mom is awesome) and would go over there when I was away at school just to hangout with her. We did get into a huge fight and didn't talk for a few months over something so stupid now I don't even remember what it was. This of course happened a couple times before but this was the longest we had gone without talking to one another. This is one thing that is completely different about our relationship that I only have with one other friend which I will talk about in my next blog. No matter how long we go without talking or seeing each other, once we start again, it's like we didn't stop. Another thing that some people never get is a best friend who is blunt. Alexis will tell me if I'm doing something stupid or if she didn't like someone I was dating. She has always been there for me no matter what even when other friends came and gone. She always has my best interest in mind as I do with her. She is someone who is going to be my maid of honor and my children's god mother. She is not only my best friend, but also a sister.

I'm going to leave you with a few pictures of us and a couple things to think about. True friends will always make time to hangout and be there for you in your time of need. It's okay to fight with your bestie. If they are really your best friend, fighting won't break your relationship apart. As with relationships, friendships are give and take and take just as much work. Find a best friend and also be a best friend.
